Philippines Flag

The national flag of the Philippines has four colors, two horizontal band of blue and red with a white equilateral triangle on the hoist side and golden yellow sun with three five-pointed golden yellow stars at the corners of the white triangle. Interestingly enough the flag is flown in different ways depending on if it is times of peace or war. During times of peace, the Philippines Flag is flown with the blue field on top and during times of war, the Philippine Flag is flown with the red field on top.

The national flag of the Philippines is different from other national flags of the world. Because it can be flown in different ways depending on the times of peace and war, it is unique.

The Philippine Flag colors represent different things. The white triangle symbolizes equality and fraternity. The blue band of the flag of the Philippines stands for peace, truth and justice; and the red area represents patriotism and valor. The rays of the sun symbolizes the first eight provinces Batangas, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, Manila, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, and Morong that sought independence from Spain. Last, the three stars symbolize the three major geographical divisions of the country: Luzon, the Visayas, and Mindanao.
